The Ohio Technical Centers (OTCs) new podcast series is setting a new standard for effective marketing and communications in adult education.

The podcasts are a collaborative initiative between OTCs, OACTS, and ODHE and stand as an exemplary model for how digital media can be used to elevate awareness, foster engagement, and educate diverse audiences about career and technical education (CTE). Launched as a key component of the broader OTC Awareness Campaign, this podcast series aims to inform and inspire Ohioans about opportunities available through OTCs.

Awareness: Increasing Recognition of OTCs

A significant challenge for many CTE programs is enhancing public awareness about the benefits and offerings of their institutions. The podcast series addresses this by highlighting the critical role that OTCs play in providing high-quality certification programs and fostering partnerships with employers and community colleges.

By sharing success stories and discussing the advantages of CTE, the podcast series effectively elevates the profile of OTCs as vital contributors to workforce development.

The podcast series is complemented by a robust social media campaign, newsletters, and webinars, all designed to amplify the reach and impact of the OTC Awareness Campaign. These efforts work in tandem to create a multi-faceted approach to outreach, ensuring that key messages about the value of OTCs reach a wide and diverse audience.

Tara Shepherd, Director of Adult Education at Apollo Career Center, emphasized the importance of the OTC Webinar Series in connecting Ohio Technical Centers directly with key stakeholders.

Reflecting on her participation as a panelist in the “Unlock Your Potential with Ohio Technical Centers!” webinar, Shepherd remarked, “Participating in this webinar was a powerful opportunity to showcase the vital role Ohio Technical Centers play in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. It allowed us to connect directly with business leaders, industry partners, and adults considering upskilling, career changes, or re-entering the workforce. The stories shared and the successes highlighted truly demonstrate how OTCs are at the forefront of workforce development, providing the skills and training needed to meet the demands of our evolving economy.”

As CTE leaders continue to adapt to the changing landscape of education and workforce development, leveraging creative and effective marketing strategies is more important than ever. The OTC podcast series provides a valuable template that can be adapted and replicated across the country, offering a resource for CTE administrators looking to enhance their initiatives.
