“Ohio’s Career-Technical Education Community, represented by the Ohio Association for Career Technical Education, the Ohio Association of Career Technical Superintendents, and the Ohio Association of Comprehensive and Compact Career-Technical Schools, appreciates the tireless and challenging work the legislature has put forth during this state budget cycle. We thank the School Funding Workgroup for their diligence over the last three years in crafting the Fair School Funding Plan, which the House included in its proposed budget. The Plan recognizes the value of career-technical schools through its revised base cost approach and represents a meaningful and important investment in k-12 career-technical education. We also support the Senate’s proposed budget, which advances career-technical education by ensuring the continued growth and strength of Ohio’s career-technical schools and students.

We are grateful that the Senate plan maintains existing career-tech tiered (“weighted”) funding; provides additional supplemental (lab) funding for program development; and eliminates the cap on career tech centers. Ohio’s career-tech educators thank our state legislators for their desire to improve funding for education and for their recognition of career-technical education and its positive impact on both students and Ohio’s workforce.”
