Ohio State University would like to share an update about their career and technical education teacher education programs. First of all, for the third year in a row, our graduate program in CTE has been chosen by U.S. News and World Report as the best in the U.S. READ MORE.
We will have three new faculty joining us on a full-time basis for the 19-20 school year. Dr. Jane Briggs, who recently retired from Eastland Career Center will perform many of the tasks previously undertaken by Dr. Jim Pinchak, including assisting with the summer workshop and performing the site visits for new teachers. We are still feeling the loss of Dr. Pinchak, and he is terribly missed. But Jane brings a wealth of experience to the position, and we are glad to have her on board.
Dr. Edward Fletcher will join us as an Associate Professor. Dr. Fletcher is a previous OSU Ph.D. graduate and comes to us from the University of South Florida. Early in his career, he was a business teacher in Missouri and Texas. Dr. Jay Plasman will be an Assistant Professor in the program. He has conducted numerous research studies related to enrollment and course taking in CTE programs and is a 2018 graduate in Education Policy and Leadership from UC-Santa Barbara.
We continue to recruit students for our traditional teacher preparation programs in Business Education and Family and Consumer Sciences. There are teacher shortages in both areas, and we would like to have more students pursuing these licenses. We have scholarship money available in both, but particularly in FCS, we have in excess of $50,000 in scholarship funds
